The Regional Park Campo dei Fiori is located a few kilometers north of the city of Varese. Established in 1984 and expanded in 2009 covers approximately 6,300 hectares on the territory of 17 municipalities and 2 mountain communities in the Province of Varese. The home of the 'body of management of the Park is located in Brinzio, only municipality whose territory is completely inserted to' inside the protected area with Masciago Primo.
The park includes two mountain ranges: the Campo dei Fiori and the Martica-Chiusarella. The first occupies the western part of the Park and overlooks with its southern slopes of Lake Varese. The approach from the east and west allows those coming from the north to recognize immediately the 'unmistakable profile and its peaks, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view on' Alps and the plain. The highest peak is Punta Paradiso (1227 m.). The mass of the Campo dei Fiori is formed by carbonate rocks of nature in which the 'incessant erosive work of' water has resulted in over 130 caves, for a total length of over 30 km. The second massive hugs the eastern boundary of the park, with two peaks that are followed in a south-north: Mount Chiusarella (912 m.) And Mt. Martica (1025m.). The two main massifs are separated from the Valley Rasa combining Valcuvia the Valley of the Olona River, which takes its name from the river that was born at the Rasa of Varese. Inside the park are set up 6 Wilderness environments that contain the most important characteristic: the Wilderness Lake Ganna Lake Brinzio, Pau Majur bog and peat bog of Carecc with the main wetlands of the Park; Reserve Monte Campo dei Fiori with its articulated underground karst system; Reserve Martica-Chiusarella with the latest patches of thin grass, rich in rare flora and invertebrate fauna. Also worth a visit and the 8 Natural monuments scattered throughout the territory of the park, little gems of particular interest. The whole park is easily explored through its 20 main paths adequately disclosed. The area is crossed by paths of longer distance as the European E1 path, the path of the Jubilee, the Via Verde Varesina, the 'ring road Valcuvia.
