Brewery named HOSTIVAR is built in the region Prague 15 on the border of two registers, Hostivař and Vršovice. It was therefore not possible to resist the idea of naming the first brewery in the history of this area and its beer was called Hostivar.

Chroniclers meant that the village Hostivař - Gostivar, was named after a man living here who "guests cooked, or protect them."

About Hostivaři mentions already chronicler Kosmas in Czech Chronicle. The events of 1068 relates that at the time Jaromir brother Prince Vratislav II., Arrives to Prague, with the support of some princes exacted a brother of his right to become the new bishop of Prague. Vratislav II, then a prince, as the first Czech king happens to seventeen years later, afraid of a possible attack with their brothers and Jaromir decided to meet. "Jaromir stopped camp with his supporters before Prague on meadows near the village of Gostivar, where they sent messengers to his brother doptati whether elect him as bishop of Prague and take him on the peace," says the chronicler.

And so we wonder - how much better would Jaromir and his companions camped and waited in the meadows near the village of Gostivar, if there had been stood brewery and restaurant with delicious beer, where the princes to rest his throat and moisten it would be possible!

What was not possible then, it will be a thousand years. Today, on the threshold Hostivař brewery stands a good Hostivar pilgrims and local brews. Inspired by ancient history, tradition and honest craft brewers cook Czech beer as it was before the big beer industrialization, the way water, hops and malt, without pasteurisation and filtration.
