Kitab Matan Al-Aajurrumiyyah adalah sebuah kitab nahu bahasa Arab yang sangat popular di pondok-pondok di Malaysia dan pesantren-pesantren di Indonesia. Kitab ini dikarang oleh Abu ‘Abdillah Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Dawud Ash-Shanhaji An-Nahwi yang terkenal dengan gelaran Ibnu Aajurruum.
Shanhaji adalah kata nama yang dinisbahkan kepada pekan terkenal iaitu Shanhaj, dikatakan juga ia dinisbahkan kepada satu kabilah di Morocco. Pendapat yang lebih sahih ialah ia sebuah nama kabilah di Morocco kerana Ibnu Aajurruum lahir, menetap dan meninggal di wilayah فاس (Fez) di Morocco.
Ibnu Ajurrum (672H/1273M – 723H/1323M) adalah seorang ahli tata bahasa Arab yang berasal dari فاس (Fez). Salah satu karyanya, al-Muqaddimah al-Ajurrumiyyah fi Mabadi’ Ilm al-Arabiyyah sangat terkenal di seluruh dunia.
Aajurruum (آجُرُّوم) adalah perkataan bahasa Amazigh atau Berber. Amazigh merupakan bahasa utama di Afrika Utara, dituturkan di Morocco dan Algeria, sebahagian di Tunisia, Libya, Mesir, Mauritania, Nigeria, dan Mali. Bahasa ini secara rasmi ditulis dengan menggunakan huruf Berber. Jumlah penuturnya mencapai hampir sekitar 13 juta orang. Aajurruum (آجُرُّوم) memberi maksud yang faqir dan juga ahli sufi. Datuk beliau yang bernama Dawud merupakan orang pertama yang digelar dengan gelaran ini.
Kitab Matan Al-Aajurrumiyyah merupakan sebuah kitab yang ringkas namun padat yang mengandungi kaedah-kaedah ilmu nahu bahasa Arab. Ia menjadi kitab rujukan para pelajar pemula dalam mendalami ilmu nahu / kaedah bahasa Arab di pelbagai belahan dunia. Selain ringkas, kitab Matan Al-Aajurrumiyyah ini juga mudah dihafal oleh para pelajar maupun pengajar.
