CTG Companion is the official field companion app for the COCUS CTG 5G Mobile Private Network (MPN). It turns any Android device on the network into a live diagnostic and measurement probe — reporting where it is, how the radio is performing, and giving operators control over how it connects.

Built by COCUS to match the web-based Control Center, it's designed for engineers and field teams deploying, surveying, and validating private 5G coverage.

📍 Locate
Report your device's live GPS position to the network operator over a secure MQTT link. Positions are published continuously while you walk or drive a survey route, so coverage can be mapped to exact locations in real time. Operators can also request an on-demand position at any moment.

📊 Measure
Read detailed 4G LTE and 5G NR radio statistics straight from the modem — signal strength (RSRP/RSRQ/SINR), cell identity (PCI, ARFCN, bands), serving cell, and radio access technology. Metrics are plotted live on-device and streamed to the network so radio quality can be correlated with position across the deployment area. Every value is shown honestly: fields the platform can't report appear as "Not available" rather than a misleading zero.

📶 Control (NR-only mode)
Using carrier privileges granted on the private network, the app can lock the device into 5G NR-only mode. On some devices and OEMs this is required to attach to the 5G MPN at all — without forcing NR, the modem falls back to LTE and never registers on the private 5G network. It's also used to validate standalone 5G behaviour and isolate NR performance during commissioning.

🔗 Connected over MQTT
All telemetry flows over a lightweight, secure MQTT link to the operator's broker: the device publishes position, radio metrics, and status, and subscribes to network commands. It's efficient enough to run continuously in the background without draining the device.

🔔 Network notifications
The network can send messages straight to the device — arriving as standard local notifications. Notifications are fully self-contained over MQTT, with no reliance on cloud push services (no Firebase/FCM), keeping the private network self-sovereign.

Built for the field
• Reliable background operation — a user-started foregroven when the screen is off, with a persistent notificationso you always know it's active.
• Clear, honest status — location or permission issues are surfaced with actionable prompts rather than failing silently.

Note: CTG Companion is intended for use with the COCUS CTG 5G MPN. NR-only mode and full radio metrics require a compatible Android device with carrier privileges provisioned on the network.
