Recognizing a chord by ear or tuning a stringed instrument by eye alone slows every practice session down. ChromaVector is a real-time chord detector and music analyzer that turns your Android microphone into a professional harmonic measurement tool, all on your phone.

Who it's for
For guitarists, the app identifies the chord being played along with a confidence score, and the Bars view reveals the natural harmonics of the instrument, helping players verify their harmony while they practice. For singers and voice teachers, the Pitch view shows real-time cent deviation, so vocalists can track intonation and vibrato as they sing, without needing a separate tuner. For violinists, cellists, and other players of pitch-variable instruments, the pYIN-based pitch mode acts as a cent-precise tuner, which is documented as more precise than typical clip tuners for bowed strings where pitch shifts with bow pressure.

Why people install it
• Confirm any chord instantly thanks to real-time chord detection with confidence scoring.
• Tune to the hundredth of a semitone thanks to probabilistic pYIN pitch detection.
• Understand chord shapes visually thanks to the Radar chromatic view.
• Track melodies and vibrato over time thanks to the scrolling Heatmap view.
• Keep sessions fully private thanks to fully offline, on-device analysis.

Key features
🎯 Chord & pitch detection
• Real-time chord detector covering 24 major/minor triads with a live confidence gauge
• pYIN cent-precision tuner for strings, winds, and voice
• 48-filter CQT spectrum aligned to piano semitones from C2 to C5
📊 6 visualization modes
• Bars view showing raw energy across the 12 pitch classes
• Piano view lighting up the keys your sound would trigger
• Radar chromatic view turning chords into distinct geometric shapes
• Temporal Heatmap tracking melody and vibrato across 60 frames
⚙️ Adjustable analysis controls
• Fast, Balanced, and Clean smoothing presets, plus a manual Expert mode
• Adjustable noise gate threshold to filter background noise
• Bilingual interface and note naming (English C-D-E and French Do-Ré-Mi)

What makes ChromaVector different
Unlike single-purpose tuner apps, ChromaVector combines a chroma analyzer, chord detector, cent-precision pYIN tuner, CQT spectrum, and temporal heatmap in one app with 6 complementary views. Its signal processing engine is compiled natively in Rust rather than running on the Android Java Virtual Machine, which is built to avoid the processing overhead typical of JVM-based DSP. The app also prioritizes the UNPROCESSED microphone audio source when available, aiming to capture raw signal without the spectral coloring that Android's built-in audio processing can introduce.

Trust and transparency
ChromaVector requires microphone access for real-time audio capture, plus internet access to support ads and in-app billing. The free version includes the Bars and Piano views, a simplified Pitch mode, three DSP presets, and a banner ad; a one-time PRO purchase unlocks the Heatmap, Radar, and Chord views, full pitch-in-cents display, expert DSP controls, and ad removal.
Download ChromaVector and start identifying chords and tuning with real-time visual feedback.
What's new in this release:
• Engine Performance & Stability: Optimized Rust native backend and refined digital signal processing (DSP) pipelines.
• Android 16 Support: Updated native binary alignment for 16 KB page sizes.
