Tackly is the tactical navigation app for sailors. It plans your route based on the current wind forecast, shows you tacks, jibes, and distances in real time, and records your trip seamlessly—even when the display is off and your phone is in the cockpit.

▶ ROUTE PLANNING WITH WIND
Tackly uses isochrone-based routing: from your boat's polarity and the hourly wind forecast, the app calculates the fastest sailable route from start to finish. Four strategies are available: Optimized, Relaxed, Multi-Route (calculates in parallel, takes the fastest), and Wind Walk (forecast along the corridor).

▶ WIND FORECAST
Hourly forecast from OpenMeteo, automatically updated to your current position. If your position changes, the app adjusts the wind accordingly. Live learning effect: Tackly compares the predicted wind with the actual wind and calibrates the forecast over the season.

▶ HEAD-UP, COURSE-UP, NORTH-UP
Three map orientations—like on a plotter. Head-Up rotates with the boat, Course-Up points to the next waypoint, and North-Up is the classic orientation.

▶ TRACK RECORDING
GPS track recording continues even when the display is off and in the background (background location). Includes engine markers, helmsman change labels, and speed-colored segments. Export as GPX or PDF with trip statistics.

▶ helmsman timer
Stump timer (customizable name from crew initials)—audible signal during helmsman changes, synchronized with track recording.

▶ OFFLINE MAPS
Local caching of the route corridor with a single click. Available at sea without cellular coverage.

▶ MANEUVER WARNING
Audible pre-warning before each waypoint (configurable in seconds) and route deviation alarm (in NM).

▶ BOAT POLARS
Built-in catalog of popular yachts (based on jieter/orc data). Expandable polar table, calibrated over the current season.

▶ DATA PROTECTION
Tackly does not operate a server. Tracks, routes, and all settings are stored exclusively locally on your device. We retrieve weather and map data anonymously from OpenMeteo and Stadia Maps—without these services seeing your identity.

▶ NOT CERTIFIED NAVIGATION
Tackly does not replace approved nautical charts or SOLAS-compliant devices. Use is at your own risk. The person in charge on board must carry approved charts and devices at all times.

Tackly is free. Advertising runs as a small banner that fades out after 30 seconds and only appears on the plan and track pages — never during live navigation.
