The ACT is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned in school. The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing reasoning and verbal abilities. The ACT has up to 5 components: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing Test.

The ACT is standardized test that admission officers use to compare applicants from different schools and different states. The ACT comprises four subject area tests – English, Math, Reading, and Science. The ACT with writing includes an additional 40-minute Writing test. ACT scores are accepted by all the colleges in the US for undergraduate admissions. Here's a brief overview of the test.

What is an ACT Exam score?

The ACT consists of four tests: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. The score range for each of the four tests is 1–36. The composite score, as reported by ACT, is the average of the four test scores earned during a single test administration, rounded to the nearest whole number.

What are the subjects on the act test?

The required portion of the ACT is divided into four multiple choice subject tests: English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. Subject test scores range from 1 to 36; all scores are integers. The English, mathematics, and reading tests also have sub scores ranging from 1 to 18.
