CarPrint is like a SPORTS APP FOR YOUR DRIVING and it makes driving fun! The app complements your car’s fuel economy gauges and measures your eco-driving success trip-by-trip.

CarPrint is a unique green driving game that you "play" in the real world. You win by beating your own car’s fuel economy ratings.

What does CarPrint do for you?

• CarPrint helps you reduce greenhouse gas emissions
• It saves you money
• CarPrint makes driving interesting
• It helps you become an even better driver
• CarPrint helps you keep your car company honest

Auto companies continue to make the news for overstating the expected fuel economy for their vehicles. CarPrint gives you an easy way to see how your fuel economy compares to the manufacturer’s claims. It goes well beyond what your car’s fuel economy indicators tell you.

The CarPrint app takes the boredom out of driving and helps you focus on the task at hand – driving! The app is not distracting. You cannot see trip results until you reach your destination and turn your engine off.

What is eco-driving?

Eco-driving is easy to learn and you may already use some eco-driving tactics, such as minimizing idling in drive-thru lines, using cruise control, and firing up apps (like Waze) to adjust travel times and routes.

Eco-drivers do a few things a little differently. The trick is to keep at it and that’s where the CarPrint app comes in.

Does eco-driving really work?

Yes! Research shows that eco-driving increases fuel economy by 5 to 30%, so expect to pay less for gas, while traveling just as far.

Feeling skeptical? Consider truck drivers. Most truck drivers have been eco-driving for years, and it’s because they know eco-driving saves them money.

Features

• Shows maps and speed profiles of every trip
• Shows city and highway fuel economy for each trip
• You compete against your own vehicle’s fuel economy ratings
• Has vehicle location if you can't remember where you parked
• Shows your car’s speed range “Sweet Spot”
• Tracks number of gas-free miles
• Tracks how much you save on gas
• Tracks your carbon dioxide reductions!

How does CarPrint work?

For a limited time, CarPrint is FREE. However, you must have an on-board diagnostics (OBD) scanner. The OBD is a 2-inch Bluetooth scanner that you plug into your car’s OBD port and leave there. The OBD port must be within 5 feet of the steering wheel and is usually located on the left side.

The OBD scanner captures data from your vehicle’s engine and uses Bluetooth to transmit the data to your phone or tablet, which then uploads it to your CarPrint account. The data is crunched and you will see all kinds of interesting information on your own web pages.

Most ELM327 Bluetooth adapters are compatible with the Android version of CarPrint. Here's a link to our current favorite -- $11.99 Veepeak: http://amzn.to/2lD7Sqg.

Requirements

CarPrint requires an Android Smartphone or Tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3) or newer (older versions are uncommon).

Your vehicle must have an OBD2 port (aka OBDii). Here’s when they became mandatory in these areas:

• Argentina – 2009
• Australia – 2006 (gas), 2007 (diesel)
• Brazil – 2007 (gas)
• Canada – 1998
• China – 2009
• Chile – 2013 (diesel), 2014 (gas)
• European Union – 2001 (gas), 2004 (diesel)
• Hong Kong – 2006
• Israel – 2003
• India – 2010
• Japan – 2002
• Mexico – 2006
• Morocco – 2011
• New Zealand – 2006
• Russia – 2012
• Taiwan – 2008
• Thailand – 2013
• United States – 1996

If you have an older car, check your owner’s manual to see if you have an OBD2 / OBDii port, or look at the list below:
