Increasingly Smartphones, Tablets and Laptops are merging to be a single category of devices. Screen sizes and the functionality offered by these devices are increasing on a daily basis to cater for the market needs. Due to this, the basic user finds it hard to use their devices for the most basic needs. The way users interact with devices changed drastically from one handed to two-handed with the arrival of the smartphone. This is a major market loss for Smartphones as non-tech savvy customers are discouraged by its complexity.
..And this is the 1st PROBLEM..
The 2nd PROBLEM is that everything is an app now! So it's very likely each one reading this is suffering from what is called "App overload". You can't figure out how to sort your apps as you have limited screen space, time and patience. Having pages and pages of apps doesn't help either!
The Smart Launcher app genuinely tries to solve both of these problems. If you think we haven't kept to the brief let us know and we will make sure we take your feedback into consideration.
Our ultimate goal is to redesign touchscreen device interaction experience so that it catches up with the technology speed. What has happened is the technology has done a sprint leaving user experience behind!
The app takes a very basic approach to provide solutions. It's not over engineered and has worked using a small set of features to make sure we leave the users enough room to help it grow. It's literally so simple that we wonder how we can have a lengthy brochure about it and make it sound complex and cool. But we think it's cool and useful.
The app setup is simple;
- Install
- Preferences setup (default config is more than enough for you to start-off until you're familiar with it)
- Tilt LEFT or RIGHT your phone when in HOME-SCREEN to have the launcher bar handle (the handle will stay on for 3-seconds before it's out of your face so tap on it if you require the app's service)
The app is optimized for single handed operation. All lists are implemented as carousels (circular lists) enabling unrestricted thumb access.
Usage tips;
- Go with the default settings first and get used to the app..
- Then go to custom-sort and have your favourite apps to the top of the list and use it for a couple of days
- After about a week of usage try out usage-based sorting to see if this fits your fancy
- Alpha-bar is the saviour for all those apps you know the name of but can't remember where exactly it is. The bar only provides a filter for your installed apps. Tap on it once to filter and tap again to switch to full-view
- Finally think about how you want your handles to be presented to you. We have provided two options; ALWAYS-ON and ON-TILT. We prefer ON-TILT as it's not there when you don't want it. But for large screens always on is very helpful to quickly switch between apps. We've used this in small screens to and found it very useful
It's time for you to download our app and experience it firsthand. Tell us what you think of it and what other cool features we can give you to save a few seconds a day that really adds up!
