In 2014, St. Augustine College (FASA) landed in Vitoria da Conquista with a bold educational project. Revitalized an education segment icon building and there installed the courses of Medicine, Engineering and Architecture. The institution, which is a reference in higher education in Minas Gerais brought Conquest their methodology, vision and pedagogical strategies. But something was missing. The FASA wanted to give the city that had welcomed her with something special. Thus was born the ART THE CITY, an open-air exhibition that honors Conquest, while that values and disseminates its cultural production.

The project part of a broader idea of cultural fruition and sees the urban space as a necessary and privileged setting for art. Seeks to contribute for a redevelopment of the city, providing other ways to experience it. Furthermore, ART BY CITY aims to shed light on productions by local artists, people who were born in Vitoria da Conquista or and chose as home. It is often of names and works little spread in the city, despite its aesthetic and symbolic value.

It was thus that in November 2014, the month in which we celebrate the birthday of Conquest, addresses known as Lagoon Bateias, avenues Olivia Flores, Integration and Juracy Magellan, and the squares of Gil and Gerson Sales, received works thematic and different techniques. That year was chosen language arts. The works have been reproduced in large panels set in treated eucalyptus poles.

ART BY CITY presented 10 names of artists who were born or chose to live Vitória da Conquista: Adilson Santos, Alex Emmanuel, Date Sena, Edméa Oliveira, Elva Garden, J. Murilo (1936-2013), Orlando Celino, Romeu Ferreira, Silvio Jesse and Valeria Vidigal.

2015 is the year of photography

FASA, aware of their social role, took over and recognized the promoter and cultural diffusion post. More than just a company, the institution seeks to insert social issues that permeate society. Thus, in 2015, ART BY CITY reaches its second edition.

This year, 81 panels with local photographers reproductions are transforming the urban landscape: the Snowman squares, Stephen Santos, Gerson Sales and Gil and avenues Olivia Flores, Juracy Magellan and Integration. The exhibition runs until the end of November.

In all, nine photographers make up the project: Traditional names like Edna Nolasco, Sabia, Monica Lula, JC D'Almeida appear next to the new generation of photographers like Michael Aquillah, Purki, Barbara Garden and Adriana Camargo. In addition, part of the Melo family collection, in which the picture occupied the trajectory of some members who produced historical records of the city, is also part of the Art City.

For FASA, the project is an opportunity for the institution to play its social role, in this case, occupying the promoter and cultural diffusion post. The administration of colleges clarifies that the issue is just a sample of what Conquest produces in terms of art and culture. In order to expand the exposure and make alternative exhibition spaces, this year's edition innovated and also has a website (www.artepelacidade.com.br) and an application. The first allows the artists of varied languages, present your portfolio in digital form. Already with the application, who have mobile phone with Internet access can track all project details.
