Mkg OBD II recorder collects information from your smartphone and bluetooth connected ELM 327 device, and records telematics information for review in a KML file on your phone. While the Mkg service is running, the user can select up to 4 different items to display on their smartphone (see below for the list).
Now with "Find My Car" - if the functionality is configured, when you are searching for your car, you can start the "find my car" functionality, and find the location where phone was located where the previous data capture stopped (presumably where you parked your car). The accuracy of this functionality is dependent on your phone's GPS.
Starting with version 1.3, new features in Mkg are not available if the user has chosen to make all Mkg KML files private (not uploaded to the MotorCardiogram cloud). In 1.3 we have added the ability to configure Mkg with the the cost of fuel, the unit of measure for the fuel (liters or US Gallons), and the currency symbol or ISO currency abbreviation. You can choose to see the expense of the current trip, the expense per 100 miles or 100 km, either for the trip or the current moment.
The default configuration of this product is to provide the user with extensive privacy methods, and to upload files to the MotorCardiogram cloud after several days have passed. You can review the Mkg KML files using Mkg Browse or copy the files from the downloads folder on your phone and review them with Google Earth. Mkg Browse can also be used to mark files that haven't been uploaded to the MotorCardiogram cloud as private, or to delete files. Users can select that all Mkg KML files are private (which means they won't be uploaded to our cloud). Using 3rd party apps, the user can then manage those files as they wish.
Unless the user changes the default configuration, this application starts at bootup of the smartphone. It is active if the smartphone is plugged in to a power supply. The app collects information based on location (GPS), OBD II (if configured to connect to an ELM 327 bluetooth device), and cellular signal strength data (if the smartphone includes a cell modem).
If you have problems connecting with your ELM 327 device, please verify connectivity between your smartphone and ELM 327 device with other fine apps that will connect to an ELM 327 device. After you have verified such connectivity, please feel free to contact us at our e-mail address.
