About the questionnaire: The ten question HIV risk screening instrument is a scientifically validated tool that was originally designed for use in primary care settings. It was developed to be short and quick to administer but able to accurately determine who should most consider being tested for HIV. The questionnaire was scientifically tested and was found to have a Kuder-Richardson coefficient of .73, which means that users answered the questionnaire items in a fairly consistent manner. The study also found that items on the 10-item questionnaire effectively distinguished people in high-risk and low-risk groups.
