The Keele STarT Back Screening Tool is used to profile an individual's level of risk of developing chronic back pain. It was created at Keele University, UK and funded by Arthritis Research UK, a registered UK charity.

Patients are allocated into LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH risk categories to inform clinical decision-making on subsequent matched treatments. Clinical and cost effectiveness of the approach has been statistically validated.

Results are displayed as text and as a risk triangle. A permanent record of the test result can be created by sending them via email.
