The eleventh RTSA Conference on Railway Excellence (CORE) and Exhibition. CORE is the premier technical event in the Australian rail conference market, with a reputation for high quality papers covering a wide range of rail engineering, operations, planning and management topics.
In addition CORE2018 will be celebrating 20 years of RTSA and will be the first CORE conference to be held in Sydney. The conference will give participants a platform to exchange ideas, discover novel opportunities, reacquaint with colleagues, meet new friends, and broaden their knowledge. It will be held at the new International Convention Centre Sydney, which is a spectacular, green-designed facility at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
The theme of CORE2018 is “Rail: smart, automated, sustainable”. Technology is constantly evolving and this has presented both solutions and challenges in the way we plan and deliver rail services and infrastructure. The conference will provide a knowledge exchange platform between emerging technologies and our existing infrastructure and projects, maximising the efficiency and benefits for the end customer and industry. It will broadly cover all disciplines of railway from fundamental research to “blue sky” applications, highlight global scientific interactions and collaborations, and feature the unique location, culture and beautiful geography of Sydney.
We expect to attract 700 attendees focused on rail transport issues representing all rail related disciplines from engineering research and practice, private industry, and governments. CORE2018 will include a full technical program of plenary, oral and poster sessions, pre- and post-conference short courses, workshops and field trips. We especially welcome young professionals, researchers, and students and will have dedicated events for them – the Future Generation.
The conference will be held on 30 April – 2 May 2018 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Sydney is a magnificent city surrounded by National Parks and the Pacific Ocean, Australia’s gateway to Asia and other Pacific nations. The city is renowned for being forward-looking, friendly, cosmopolitan and entertaining. It is also an appropriate location for CORE2018, with a range of exciting rail developments underway in Sydney including a new CBD light rail system, and Australia’s first driverless metro.
