Slightly History Of lenong BETAWI

Lenong is the art of theater folk who live in the Betawi people. Many historians estimate, folk theater art has already emerged in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Some say, lenong merely the result teaterisasi and development of Gambang Kromong music. Gambang Kromong is a kind of gamelan orchestra that combines Chinese musical instruments, such as Sukong, Tehyan, and kongahyan.
Other versions argues, derived from the development puppet lenong Abdul Muluk. Art was already known in Sumatra since 1886, which was influenced by Parsi comedy and puppet of China. Puppet Jakarta Abdul Muluk entrance around the 1910s. Lenong own name appeared in the 1920s. At that time, the accompanying music is kromong xylophone.
