- Ad-free configurable news app that lets you read news from multiple sources using RSS feeds.
- You can select from pre-configured news sources or you can add your own news sources.
- You can temporarily download articles for offline reading on the train or bus or in areas where you might have little or no internet access. These downloaded articles are deleted when you refresh the news so that they do not take up space on your device.
- You can also bookmark articles for future reference. Bookmarked news articles can be retained as long as required and are not deleted on refresh (unlike downloaded articles).
- You can opt for either a tabbed layout or a single screen layout depending on the screen size as desired.
- Settings let you mix up the articles from multiple news sources using the shuffle option or limit the number of articles to be shown in the single screen view.
- You can set your default news type like 'Health' or 'Sports' in the settings to open them by default whenever you launch the app. To see the articles of another news type you can either scroll horizontally (in tab view) or use the navigation drawer on the upper left corner
- Once you have opened up an article to read you can share it with friends or family using the share button on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Google+
If you end up downloading the app and use it that's great!! If you like as well it then do rate it and leave a comment.
Feel free to leave a comment about any issues or new features you might want me to add as well. Thanks! :-)
Note: I'm just an Android developer who is excited to publish his first app on the Play app store.
I developed this app originally to let my wife read latest news on pregnancy and parenting when we knew that we are having a baby. I ended up generalizing the app and now use it regularly to know what's happening in the outside world.
Friends and colleagues started using the app and found it useful so I thought I should publish it to the app store to let more people use it.
I mostly made the app to try out different parts of the Android API and learn app development in the process. So I don't intend to make any money from the app (yes, there are several other similar free/commercial alternatives). So I have kept if free to use and don't have any annoying ads on it. Having said that do remember that any ads that are shown by the RSS feed sources themselves would still be shown and any ad revenues from these ads would rightfully go the RSS feed sources only.
- New feature added to allow deletion of unused news sources. Users can now configure a tab say the 'Local' tab to have news from their own local area rather than the default sources configured.

- Minor issue with Navigation Drawer highlight fixed
- Loading of Bookmarks and NewsSources screen made quicker while still showing progress
- Order of news types improved to be better aligned to user preferences based on user feedback
