The Mapuche language is made up of different variants that respond to the specific characteristics of each territory.

Generally, each variant has a name and particularities in its pronunciation. Thus we find names such as "mapudungun", "chedüngun", "mapuzugun", "mapunzungun", among others.

In the Williche territory, specifically in the fütalmapu called "Fütawillimapu" or "Great Southern Lands" - which covers the current provinces of Ranco, Osorno and Llanquihue - there has been the variant "che süngun" or "tse süngun" (The Language of people).

This variant today has less than a dozen high-level speakers, old men and women who are the last vestige of a form of ancestral communication, born around the "Ñuke Kütralwe" (Mother Stove).

It is worth remembering that our Mapunche language was prohibited through different state, private and religious mechanisms, punishing its public use. Faced with this, many fathers and mothers did not pass on tse süngun to their sons and daughters to avoid the suffering and humiliations of civilized Winka society.

Given the imminent danger that tse süngun will disappear, this "app" has the humble objective of fostering enthusiasm in the new Mapunche and non-Mapunche generations to be able to recover, disseminate and "reposition" our williche variant as a primary instrument of communication and collective identity strengthening.

We hope you like it, use it and join the defense of our tse süngun.

Mañum.
