In this post, I am going to show you how to install nervousnet for 31c3 on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Step By Step Guide To Install nervousnet for 31c3 using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. Be sure to turn on Bluetooth and Location Services to get the most out of the app and know your way inside the building! This app does not use your GPS and only relies on Bluetooth for proximity detection to other app users.

This is a project by the Chair of Sociology, in particular of Modeling and Simulation at ETH Zürich. All proximity data gathered at 31c3 is anonymised and no personal identifier or phone data is stored anywhere on our server. We generate our own identifier inside the app for the sole purpose of drawing a social graph.

Nervousnet will also log anonymous sensor data such as accelerometer, battery state, connectivity, bluetooth proximity, light, magnetic, temperature, noise frequency and intensity, gyroscope, air pressure and humidity. Logging and sharing of such data can be disabled in the app's settings.
