It is a cultural festival also. This is also called festival of lights. Diwali is spelled as deepawali or dipawali. It is a national festival of Hindus.

This festival comes after Navratri and Dussehra festival. It is one day festival and celebrated all over the country. Sweets and crackers are special on that day. The celebrations vary place to place. In most of the place Laxmipooja is conducted on that day at homes and business premises.
