Do you weigh your food on a kitchen scale, instead of measuring it by cups and spoonfuls?

Do you track calories and nutrition information in a food diary?

Do you need information about the 300 grams of "Family Favorite Casserole" on your plate?

Not all of your meals come with labels or nutrition information. You make a lot of them from scratch. It can be tricky to get accurate -- or close enough to accurate -- nutritional information.

Some recipes include nutritional information per serving, but you might make some changes and not follow the recipe exactly. And sometimes you're not sure if you're eating exactly what the recipe calls a "serving."

MixedUp Meal Calculator will help you.

MixedUp tells you, for example, that your homemade casserole has 1.37 calories per gram. It also gives you information about other nutrients such as protein, fat, and fiber. If you have 300 grams of casserole on your plate, you can record 411 calories of casserole in your food tracker diary.

You can use this information in your preferred food diary, or your diet tracking app for weight loss or bodybuilding.

But how exact can this information be? The food's mixed up, after all!

It's true that if you scoop only the cheesy noodles out of the serving dish, and leave all the chicken behind, then MixedUp will not be able to give you very accurate information about what's on your plate.

But if you scoop reasonably well-balanced and well-distributed portions of your mixed-up foods, MixedUp can give you "close-enough" data that will be useful in your food diary.

You use this app by loading up a Food Item List with the ingredients you will make meals with. You may create Food Item records by entering information that you read off a label (Custom Food Item), or you may search the Nutritionix.com database, which has access to 558,953 Grocery Items, 114,854 Restaurant Items, and 24,509 Common Foods.

A Meal is any combination of one or more Food Items. As you weigh your ingredients on your food scale, you enter those weights on the Meal Ingredients screen, hit Calculate, and immediately see nutrition information for the total meal, as well as per gram.

You may name a Meal and save it. The most recently entered ingredient weights will be saved, so that you can easily repeat whatever you made last time.

This app was made with heart by a computer science student AND busy mom, who has successfully managed her weight by doing what MixedUp does, but with pencil and paper. MixedUp is so much less tedious!

Good luck! Hope this helps someone!
