Government Post Graduate College Bilaspur was established in the year 1952.it is surroundedby beautiful Bandla Hills on one side and World Famous Gobind Sagar lake on the other.It is has one of the oldest as well as the most prestigious college of Himachal Pradesh.The college a sprawling campus which provides an ideal environment for educational.pursuit Over the past sixty year this college has established a glorious record in the field of acdemic excellence and also in variousother co-curricular activities.
The college is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University and has been accredited B++ Grade byNational Assessment and Accredititation Council(NAAC).It imparts education in Art,Science andCommerce Faculties.It also offer three year BCA Hon's course in Economics along with Vocationalcourses in office management and Secretatial practice.In adddition tothat PG classes in Economicsand Commerce are also running smoothly in the institute to facilities the students for achievingspecialized education in specific subjects as per their area of interest.

In 2006,Bca&PGDCA courses were started in the college under self-financing scheme.In 2006,certificate and diploma coorses in journalism an mass communications were also started here with an objective to pursue the career of the students simultaneously along with the regular degree courses.In 2010, with the introduction of B.Sc.Honours on Biotechnology,Bachelor of Business Administration(BBA),Bachelor of tourism Administration (BTA) and a certificate courses in floriculture,the college has taken a leap forward in managing the self- financing courses. The college has a well stocked and fully functional libaraywhich provides the facility of e-library and is connected through the INFILIBNET.

BCA and PGDCA department has a welequipped and fully furnished computer laboratory to cater to the needs of the students of the department.It is connected to internet through Broadband and Wi-Fi connection.With prfessionally competent faculty this college is well prepared to accomplish the aspirations and expextations of thestudent who want to enter in the field of technology.It is a matter of great pleasure that the first three position of HP University were secured by PGDCA studentof this college in 2006-2007.In addition to this the PGDCA students of the college secured Meritorious position in HPU exams during the year 2008-2009,2009-2010,2010-2011 and 2011-2012 The department of B.Sc. Bio-Technology is well equippedwith advanced Laoratories and Smart Class Room. Department of Management Studies(BBA) &BTA is also modernalised as per therequirements and necessaryinfrasturucture has been provided in these department cater to the students.
