What is the Canadian Liberation Mars?

In 1973 the Canadian Liberation march was first organized by the Local History Society 'Cnocke here.
This walk along dykes polders start in Hoofdplaat the Scheldt where in October 1944 the Canadians came ashore to liberate West Zeeland Flanders of the occupier. After three weeks of struggle through flooded polders reached Canadian infantry regiments Retranchement to achieve on 1 and 2 November Knokke-Heist. The struggles of the Rebuke Pocket were over and the last part of Belgium was free. This unique 33 km long trek is a tribute and memorial to the many fallen Canadian soldiers who fought for our freedom.
