Studying religion is a part of worship, which every Muslim is commanded to learn, each according to the ability that God gave him.
Rasulullah Shallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
"Seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim."
(Valid hadith, narrated from some Companions are: Anas bin Malik, Ibn Abbas, Ibn Umar, Ali ibn Abi Thalib, and Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri Radhiallahu anhum. See: Sahih al-jami: 3913)
Besides the necessity of studying syar'i law, Allaah and His Messenger to mention a lot about the virtues of studying, which should as a Muslim, making those arguments as an encouragement and tried to fill his time by studying the Book of Allah and hadits- hadeeth of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi Wasallam. Because it will be the way of life of a servant who expect guidance and happiness in this world and hereafter.
Rasulullah Shallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
"I have left for you two guidelines that you will not go astray after: the Book of Allah and my sunnah"
(HR.Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak (1/172), from Abu Hurairah Radhiallahu anhu, validated Al-Albani in Shaih Al-jami ': 2937)

Here we mention some of the virtues of science that are mentioned in the Qur'an and Sunnah:
Science is the light
Allah the Exalted says:
"Now hath come unto you light from Allah, and the book that explains. By the Book that Allah may guide those who follow His good pleasure to salvation, and God remove them from total darkness to bright light with the permission of his, and show them to the straight path. "
(QS.Al-Maidah: 15-16)

These two verses show about the primacy of science, which is characterized as the light that guides who follow His pleasure towards roads safety, such as road rescue a servant of deviation and misguidance, and deliver a servant to the salvation of the world and the hereafter, removing them of darkness, the darkness of polytheism, heresy, immorality and ignorance, leads to the light of monotheism, science, guidance, obedience and all goodness.
Therefore, if a person is more likely to follow their own lusts, likes to do disobedience, which caused her to be dark, then science would be difficult to occupy the dark heart, hard to memorize the verses of Allah and his men-tadabburi, difficult to memorize the hadiths of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi Wasallam, understand and apply in their lives, because it will not be possible together in one heart between immoral darkness with the light of knowledge.
