Superhero fans: Excelsior! Free opens up a world of comic book covers turned into wallpaper for your phone.

When I was a kid growing up in central Ohio during the mid-70s, comic books were an escape from suburban boredom. Those comics sat in boxes — in many, many closets over the years — and now they're getting some good use as I publish my most recent Android app.

Some of these DC and Marvel comics come from the tail-end of the Silver Age (1956-1970) — but most are my Bronze Age (1970-1985) comics scanned in by my son over the course of a few weekends. You'll find a pro version, too, where you can unlock the complete suite of wallpapers. From Neal Adams' award-winning artwork in the '60s and '70s to Frank Miller's take on Daredevil in the '80s — you'll find that scrolling through these cool covers is half the fun.
