Be aware that tablets can be a challenge for the non-technical because of the micro USB battery cable, accidentally touching the Home, Back, Recents, or even the power buttons. Not to mention the side and top menus. We address this with a customized frame on the famGADGET WiFi versions that you will see on famgadget.com, they come pre-configured. But if your senior is somewhat tech savvy, this is a good way to go too. The sooner they become used to the app, the better it will be as they age.
