HillCaddy is designed to help golfers with the age old question of "Which club should I hit?"

Step by step instructions are shown below.

First, the user needs to create a profile and add each club to their bag by using "Range Mode". Then they can add shots to those clubs using the data captured by launch monitors, which can be found at most sporting good stores.

After their profile has been created, the golfer can enter "Course Mode" and find out which club they should play based on their distance from the target, the current weather conditions, and the up-slope or down-slope to their target.

In short, "Range Mode" allows you to save shots for each club and edit your bag. "Course Mode" uses the saved shots to calculate the distance for each club and gives you a recommendation. For more accurate results, click "Calculate Air Density" in Course Mode to update your conditions.

All distances shown represent the carry distance, they do not take roll-out into account.

If the conditions are creating glare and you can't read the text, you can turn off the background images by clicking the menu button at the top right, then settings, and then deselect the background images check box.

Instructions:
1) Create a profile by clicking menu (the three dots at the top right), then select "Create Profile".
2) Select "Range Mode" from the main screen.
3) Add all of your clubs to that profile using the Add/Remove Club screen in Range Mode.
4) Add shot data for each club while on the Range Mode screen by selecting the club from the drop down, entering the ball speed, back spin, side spin, and launch angle. Then click the "Add Shot" button.
5) You can view the saved shots for each club by clicking the "View Shots" button in Range Mode.
6) Once your profile has been created and shots have been saved for each club, go back to the main screen, select the profile you wish to use, and click "Course Mode".
7) Press "Calculate Air Density" to update your current weather conditions, if your phone does not have the required sensors, you will be prompted to either enter the data manually or just use the default value which is sea level.
8) Press the angle button next to the angle field or enter the angle manually (positive for uphill, negative for downhill).
8b) If you press the angle button, a diagram will show up that explains how to capture the angle with your phone. Ignore the quality of the terrible stick figure drawing, but do what it says... Align the side edge of the phone so that it is parallel with your eye line to the target. Tap the screen to capture the angle. The app will return to Course Mode with the captured angle now appearing in the angle field.
9) Enter the distance to your target, preferably with a laser range finder because the app uses some geometry to figure out the lateral distance to the target based on the angle and distance you enter. If you think of it as a triangle, you're entering the hypotenuse and the app figures out the other two sides (height and distance).
10) Press the "Calculate Best Club" button, a new screen will appear with a pop-up that shows which club will land closest to the target. Once you click OK, you'll be able to see how far each club will travel in relation to the target. Positive numbers indicate going past the target and negative numbers indicate landing short of the target.
11) Press the back button to return to "Course Mode". You can also click on "Distance Card" to see how far each club will travel on a flat surface.
