In this post, I am going to show you how to install Silent Radiance on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Before you start, you will need to download the APK/XAPK installer file, you can find download button on top of this page. Save it to easy-to-find location.

Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.

Step By Step Guide To Install Silent Radiance using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
  3. Once installed, click "Silent Radiance" icon on the home screen to start using, it'll work like a charm :D

[Note 2] about Bluetooth: At the moment, support for Bluetooth is not available on BlueStacks. Hence, apps that require control of Bluetooth may not work on BlueStacks.

Silent Radiance is a special application used to play back digital broadcasts over a Wi-Fi network via broadcast. This sounds better than standard analog silent disco, plus you get great visuals that goes with the music.

This is an open source application with the sources available at http://open.killercool.com. In the best conditions, one transmitter should handle up to 200 people at once.

It also works on Android TV's.



Caveats:

1. The application only works with a music server (DJ setup) in proximity of 75 to 150 feet. and should provide an internet connection to gateway to.

2. The server software is designed to run on laptops with the linux operating system installed and specific Broadcom wifi cards.

2. Bluetooth headphones tend to interfere with the broadcast, and this interference will affect multiple listeners. Because of this, Bluetooth is disabled while running the app.

3. The linux server acts as a wi-fi router/access point. Things tend to work better when the linux server has additional access to the internet. Most phones will still work without the internet connection.

4. Google location (via google maps) tends to like High accuracy mode to determine locations. This uses wifi as well as GPS. On some phones High accuracy mode causes the music to cut in and out. A red warning sign comes up and allows the user to switch to GPS only mode.
