Muslim clothing has changed considerably throughout history. These changes reflect public, cultural and religious beliefs as they are witnessed. However, the religion and the emergence of nationalist identity have become the two most common factors governing the change of Islamic or Muslim attire.
Muslim Wear: Through the History Page
Muslim clothing is mainly influenced by other royal and kingdom cultures. Countries conquered by Muslim rulers also convey the effect of this outfit. During the pre-Islamic period, clothing for both sexes was largely similar. Some of these influences still persist in clothing in and around the Near East, including Iran and Iraq.
After the previous Prophet set guidelines for clothing, the universal headscarf principle, or 'hijab' was added to the simple functional clothing of indigenous peoples, based on climate, weather and environment in the region. Actually, the clothes worn by rural and Bedouin residents reflect this function. The urban population, on the other hand, is more likely to show western influence in dressing. However, this influence has also been absorbed by the unique identity of a Muslim.
Mixed modes, such as men dressed in jillaba or kaffiya along with suits and western formal business shoes, are a common sight in urban areas and towns throughout the Far East.
Muslim Clothing: The Main Element
Islamic Clothing enjoys a unique and different identity even though there is influence over time. Let's look at some of the common elements seen in this outfit:
Outerwear: Almost all traditional Islamic cultures combine several forms of wrappings or coats. Usually a long, long outer garment that extends from the head or neck to the ankle that can be a long dress, dress or kaftan, aba or rida usually has two openings on the front for the hand. The fabrics used in making these garments also indicate which areas are in place. Similarly, burnoose or thobe is a one piece robes with a hood worn throughout the North African and Arabian regions. The Egyptian version is referred to as jillaba.
Headwear: Imama or turban is the most common form of head dress. Turbines come in a wide range of styles and even sport trailing ends that serve the practical purpose of the hijab face in case of bad weather. During the Abbasid period, turbans were used by Muslim rulers to differentiate between their different classes of population. In addition to turbans, conical and cone-shaped Fez hats from Moroccan origin and black velvet sidaras, popular among the Iraqis, the most common form of head teeth is kaffiya or hijab worn with a rope on the head called
