It all started with the dream of Cap. Hugo Enderica to form a professional football team composed solely of Ecuadorian players. To take over the project to the Paraguayan coach Jose Maria Ocampo, who was responsible for touring the country in search of talent that eventually would make up the team was chosen. The club debut in 1960 in the second category of Pichincha Club Mariscal Sucre and after a successful career winning promotion in 1963, so the June 1, 1964 is officially enrolled in AFNA, changing its name to Club Deportivo The National. The club won the 1964 runner-up in his first participation in the national championship.
