There are several opinions as to the meaning Walisongo. The first is the guardian of nine, which indicates the number of carers that there are nine, or sanga in the Java language. Another opinion says that the word Songo / sanga comes from the word tsana which in Arabic means noble.
Other opinions say the word again there comes from the Javanese language, which means the place. Another opinion says that Walisongo is an assembly of propaganda which was first established by Sunan Gresik (Maulana Malik Ibrahim) in the year 1404 AD (808 AH).
The Walisongo was a reformer of society at the time. Their influence is felt in different forms of manifestation of a new civilization of the Java community, ranging from health, planting, commerce, culture, art, society, up to the government.

Walisongo or Walisanga known as a propagator of Islam in Java in the 14th century they lived in three key areas are northern coast of Java, namely Surabaya-Gresik-Lamongan-Tuban in East Java, Demak-Holy-Muria in Central Java, and Cirebon in West java.

Walisongo era is the era of the end of the dominance of the Hindu-Buddhist cultural heritage to be replaced with Islamic culture. They are a symbol of the spread of Islam in Indonesia, particularly in Java. Of course many other figures also play a role.

But they were very big role in establishing the Islamic kingdom in Java, as well as its influence on the culture and the society at large direct propaganda, making the Walisongo is more known than others.

Walisongo known as 9 guardian who spread Islam in Java. After reading some history books Walisongo, it turns out what we know about Walisongo during childhood was not exactly 9 Wali charismatic who spread Islam in Java, but the sense Walisongo truth is Da'wah Council or the Council Mubaligh named Walisongo, in it incorporated nine of the charismatic cleric who preached in all corners of the island of Java.
