In the GDR (German Democratic Republic) of the 1980s emerged a variety of opposition groups with the civil rights activists and environmentalists, peace activists and political Christians, critical artists and punks. They met in private homes and churches and coveted against the Stalinist regime of the SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany) on. Aided by the reforms of Mikhail Gorbachev in the Soviet Union collapsed in the summer of 1989 triggered a wave of emigration. In the autumn of the same year, the political situation finally came to a head.
 
Throughout the country, East Germans demanded freedom rights and democratic participation in the Monday demonstrations. Center of the protest movement was Leipzig, where on October 9, 1989 tens of thousands of non-violent demonstration - the beginning of the end of the dictatorship. On 4 November 1989, it was also on the central East Berlin Alexanderplatz into a major demonstration. Five days later the Berlin Wall fell.
 
 
The tour takes you to places in Mitte, Friedrichshain, Lichtenberg and Treptow, give an insight into the history of the GDR opposition. Starting point is the Alexanderplatz. The orientation is possible via the integrated map.
 
It is advisable to start the tour with a charged battery. The Internet of the smartphone must be given.
