Decoding the secrets of body language There are different kinds of communication methods as speaking on the phone or internet mailing etc. but one of the most important methods of conveying your thoughts to the other person is through body language. Our bodies are most effective kind of transmitters of messages. It is the kind of communication that is often practiced consciously or unconsciously. It is a new science that is gaining popularity nowadays. To understand the psychology of the person try to interpret the way they behave with their bodies. Meeting somebody When we meet somebody for the first time the smile on your face the confidence in your eyes and a firm handshake gives a welcoming and positive impression to the stranger. This language that we convey through our bodies without speaking a word is known as body language. Body language tells us the how that person is feeling his emotions and mental stability. Learning to understand and interpret body language will give you an upper hand in dealing personal as well as professional areas. When we are travelling While travelling or meeting someone it would be good if we can read the signs that their bodies is showing it will help us assess and give us an advantage over any situation. Thus having some knowledge about the subject would be beneficial. Using body language Most of the influential people use body language to convey the unspoken. While the people researching on it say that most of the movement's of the body can be categorized into the body movements some even believe that breathing patterns too falls in the same category. However this language can not be relied to make or form a long lasting impression as body language can be manipulated and interpreted in many other ways.
Understanding the positive and negatives In order to interpret the various kinds of signals given by a particular person it is very important to first of all know what are the different kinds of positions or poses and what do they mean. The confident and interested type: - When you see somebody walking erect with their head and chin up it means he is confident and focused. - When we see somebody standing with hands on their hips and legs apart it clearly indicates authority. It also stands for aggression and used as an intimidating tool. - For men if the person is sitting with their legs slightly apart or hands clasped behind the head and legs crossed or stretched out both means that the person is relaxing. - Open palms and slight smile convey innocence sincerity and openness. The negative body language signs would include: - Sitting with legs crossed and kicking the foot slightly shows boredom. - Sitting or standing with arms crossed at the chest tells us the person's defensiveness. - Walking with hands in pockets and shoulders hunched slightly indicate disappointed and depressed. - Touching or rubbing your nose indicate lying and rejection. Rubbing the eyes would signify tiredness or sleepiness. - Clasped hand behind the back and stiff spine show anger and frustration.
Reaction to body language Advantages Understanding the various forms of messages that other people express through their bodies can be advantageous for us. It is not that hard to read people it just needs some patience and observation. Mostly the reactions can be categorized into two broad categories the positive and the negative. However the interpretations can never be very perfect. Learning to understand these faint movements need some practice. For example if we are standing too close to a person indicates our familiarity with him and in the same way standing a little far from someone indicates strangeness and lack of comfort. Likewise a person's openness to being kissed and hugged shows his personality. Reacting The reaction that the other person gives us lets us know the situation and act accordingly.
