Located in the upper valley of Aure, close to Saint-Lary, the parish church of Our Lady of Bourisp of Romanesque origin, became in the twelfth century an important Marian pilgrimage site. Pilgrims and visitors could, until 1982, in the sanctuary admire the famous "Black Madonna of Bourisp."
Rebuilt from the sixteenth century, the church was decorated with murals, thus covering almost all of the interior spaces. Classified historic monument since 1960, the church Bourisp today has one of the largest programs "painted" in the Aure valley.
