Proper registration of Adverse Events that occur during cancer treatment is of utmost importance both in clinical trials of new therapies, both in clinical practice with standard treatments. CTCAE Pocket provides quick access to the CTCAE terminology, translated into Italian by Francesco Grossi.

The objective of the CTCAE (Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events) is to provide a standard for the description of adverse events, and the related exchange of information, for the safety of treatments in the field of cancer research. The CTCAE is used to define the parameters of a protocol (such as the maximum tolerated dose and the dose-limiting toxicity), to provide the eligibility assessment and guidelines for dose adjustment. The CTCAE facilitates the evaluation of new cancer therapies, treatment modalities and the comparison between the toxicity profiles of various therapies.
In May 2009, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) released version 4 of the CTCAE, later updated to the current 4.02 and 4.03 used for this version of CTCAE Pocket.

CTCAE Pocket is designed to facilitate consultation and daily use of CTCAE both in clinical trials and clinical practice, providing the user the ability to access over seven hundred items in the database both in English and in Italian, through the direct search or taking advantage of the classification of Adverse Events in 26 SOC (System Organ Class) corresponding to the MedDRA SOC.
