UP NEPA promotes a joint effort by Nigerians and for Nigerians to monitor the performance of their local power companies. UP NEPA uses your smartphone's Internet connection and GPS location services to pinpoint areas around you that could be supplied with electricity from the local power company (who used to be NEPA).

A pretty simple and easy to use app.

It's a community of people lending one another an eye by keeping up with and updating the community on the power supply statuses in areas of interest to them, especially areas they have visited recently. This way we are able to get daily up-to-date information on these areas, and hence, troubleshooting power problems in these areas gets easier.

WHY USE UP NEPA?

* KNOW WHEN YOUR HOME AREA HAS POWER PROBLEMS: We get this a lot in many estates in Nigeria where some fault would develop somewhere in the power setup of that estate/area, and then it could take almost a week before anyone can deduce that oh this is actually a fault local to our area, and not the normal NEPA behaviour. To make matters worse, one might not even get a report and/or action from the power company about this fault unless one chases after them for like another week. Well, with UP NEPA, we should be able to limit that time span to about two days. By viewing areas around you on the map, you should be able to tell if the blackout in your area is specific to you guys, or for everyone else.

* VERIFY POWER STATUS OF AN AREA: With UP NEPA's end-to-end anonymous calling feature, you can call up someone in an area who just updated an electricity status there to find out more about the power supply in that area. This could also be your home area. It could be the determining factor for the choice of you staying late at your office to finish that important work, or packing your things to go home and finish up in your cool comfort. To be able to make that decision with ease is what UP NEPA can help with. This could also help travellers across the country make informed stop areas in their journey.

* WORK WHERE THERE IS ELECTRICITY: The main proposition for UP NEPA has always been to enable freelance workers like us who can work anywhere we can get hold of stable electricity, to find such areas around us so we rarely get to have a downtime. With this app, we are able to locate those areas with electricity with ease and probably call in a favour from someone we know in that area that could accommodate us for the time being to work efficiently. This can save a lot of time and generator costs.

* PLAN YOUR LIFE: This point is like the one before it. We all agree that one very good thing everyone of us would like to get his/her hands on is our local power company's power distribution time table. Getting one's hands on this time table as a student, freelance worker, or business owner is just indispensable. But one problem, no one ever gets to see or know this time table. We mostly guess, and are often wrong. However, with UP NEPA's power streak history, that shows the dates and times someone in the community has reported electricity presence or absence in an area and for how long, you are able to make a better guess on how your week's power supply time table might be.

* THE NAME IS CLASSIC & FUNNY: Or at least we think it is. Common, on seeing this the first time, didn't you think, "Oh, what a funny app. And maybe one of those stupid ones too."? :) . Well, it isn't stupid we assure you, but install to find out just how funny.

And many more. Try UP NEPA today. Tap Install.
