With nature view you can easily determine animals and plants and learn more about the nature in your neighborhood. Take photos of plants and determine them with our automatic image recognition. Record bird sounds and recognize with the automatic sound recognition which bird sings.

Take part in the citizen research project "Nachtigall Research Case" and collect as many voice recordings of the nightingale as possible between mid-April and early July 2019.

Overview Data collection
All data is collected for purely scientific purposes. As soon as the data is no longer needed, we delete it. Which data are collected and to what extent can also be partly due to technical necessities.
When using this app, the following data are collected and stored anonymously on the servers of the Museum of Natural History in Berlin:
● Sound and picture recording
The app uses the microphone and the camera of the phone. The recordings are stored anonymously and used, for example, as training material for pattern recognition. If you wish, you can specify a name for the recordings you have made. This data also serves to ensure the quality of observations reported in observation networks.
● metadata of the recordings or observation (type, coordinates, time, number, behavior)
The app needs access to the site to record metadata about coordinates and time. These data are used in the reporting of observations in observation networks and in the presentation of observations on the map.
● Device ID
The app needs permission to access the phone (phone status and identity) to read the device ID. This is sent encrypted to our server, so we have no information about the unencrypted device ID. This allows us to protect our pattern recognition service against misuse without user registration (LogIn). In addition, we can evaluate the use of the app scientifically, without having to collect more data.
● Metadata of the determination results (coordinates, time, determination course)
Your anonymized determination results and the use of the determination aids developed by us are scientifically evaluated. Based on this, on the one hand, the app will be further developed and improved, and on the other, the effectiveness of the tools we have developed will be examined.
