One night, Tidus, who was active as a blitzball player in the big city of Zanarkand, was carried away by a giant monster called "Shin" that attacked the city and ended up in an unknown land. It was a world called Spira, where "Shin" spread death and destruction. There he meets Yuna, a girl who has just become a summoner. The Summoner, the only being who can defeat "Shin", is the light of hope for the people of Spira. Yuna, too, is burdened with these expectations and is about to embark on a journey to defeat "Shin". Without knowing anything about Spira, Tidus accompanies him on a journey to the sacred land of Zanarkand in order to find a way to change the world back to its original state. Many painful truths were waiting for him there.
