Senalecticapp is an application aimed at improving access to information for all those who need it. Its function is to complement the pictograms, sign language, Braille and speech voice Augmented Reality and the location of different spaces and shops school environment.
"La Purisima for deaf children" College is dedicated to the education and rehabilitation of hearing-impaired child care and / or problems developing their full potential and contributing to their educational and social integration Language Center.
Communication is vital to develop our potential, to interact with others, to learn, to enjoy and to participate in society. But not only we communicate with spoken language but also with augmentative and alternative communication systems (SAAC) which are different forms of expression, which aim to increase (augmentative) and / or offset (alternative) difficulties of communication and language of many people with different disabilities. Thanks to these systems should not be slowed down because of the difficulties in oral language. For this reason, all people, whether children, youth, adults or the elderly, who for any reason have not gained or lost a level sufficient to communicate successfully speech, need to use a SAAC. In our school we have varied and heterogeneous students using sign language mainly Spanish, bimodal, ARASAAC pictograms and Braille.
The project has been carried out through the efforts of both professionals and students center. The boys and girls at school have created, designed, printed and edited necessary for the creation of posters that will signal the different spaces. Thus they are become aware of their own need to claim access to information and social inclusion of people with disabilities.
We have marked the different classrooms and school spaces, we make posters including the pictogram, real images, voice, and image braille words in Spanish Sign Language. Posters that give them information and clarifies them a little more reality.
This year we decided to move abroad because our students are not just found in our center, they also go to shops, restaurants, libraries, sports centers ... From the Colegio "La Purisima for Deaf Children" have marked with signs major buildings and establishments in our immediate environment, ie our neighborhood.
The design of the posters is next, through an application we created "SeñalecTICapp" necessarily you have to download free can access information pictogram augmented reality, we also find a code QR with any reader mobile is you can watch a video in sign language with the word written underneath in turn appear in Braille to facilitate understanding students with visual impairment.
We aim to provide greater access to information to our students and to raise awareness that there are other forms of communication. In our classrooms we use these forms of communication but when our students leave school you are not in their daily lives, so we want to make a more inclusive and sensitive neighborhood. We want the participation of our students in their environment, remove barriers to learning and communication, make ourselves visible, encouraging teamwork, promoting autonomy, skills and abilities of people with disabilities.
We have encouraged the district to collaborate on the project, creating a positive and participatory impact. We propose an interdisciplinary and multidimensional approach, strengthening neighborhood relations, creating and working on community links.
