GoMarch is an app that brings online and offline activists together. Using Augmented Reality, GoMarch makes it possible for activists to "see" and communicate with one another, joining up online and offline communities to increase visibility and exchange. The GoMarch app and the companion www.gomarch.org website work together to resolve two challenges facing activists in the digital age. The first problem is that many individuals who would like to physically attend a protest or a political event are unable to do so. Life circumstances, fear and anxiety, or disability, for example, can make participation difficult. The second problem is that, while digital activism offers a platform for these activists to engage, their work is not always perceived by those who are able and willing to offer physical presence to an issue. Bringing these two groups together strengthens both digital and real-world activism, providing a more complete picture.
sing the GoMarch app, physical attendees at the real-world event, can experience Augmented Reality by looking through the viewfinder or their phone, through which the digital avatars that have been placed will be visible.
