Ungun career journey began in 1995 when they were gathered in a small shop on the outskirts of Tebet, Jakarta Timur. At that time Makki Parikshit (Makki-Bass), together with friends band that Eki (guitar), Billy (keyboards), Michael (vocals), and Muhammad Nur Rochman (Rowman-drum) they trigger the name "Purple" as their band name ,
In 2000, Purple begin preparing their first album, which was finally released July 6, 2002, titled Laguku. Previously, Purple participate fill out 2 songs on the compilation album Click along Lakuna, Borneo, Picnic, and Energy. The second song is "Desire" and "Flower". The album's first single, "Bayang Semu" be original soundtrack sinetron ABG (RCTI). Although somewhat successful, this new album received a Platinum Award after nearly two years of the album is released.
In 2012, Purple launched a best compilation album entitled Timeless. This album is only sold in KFC outlets throughout Indonesia. [16] This album contains ten single choice of six previous studio albums, plus four new song "What Is Maumu", "What You Think", "Honey" and "Debris Memories". Timeless compilation album which also sold through the outlets of KFC, has sold up to 500 thousand pieces for two months. [17] Purple is also included musicians who successfully selling album in KFC outlets like Laura Love, Beautiful Goddess of Earth, Agnes Monica, SM * SH, T.R.I.A.D, Rossa, Slank, Last Child, Ello, Sammy Simorangkir and Fleet.
