Tran Quang Co (May 22, 1927 - June 25, 2015), a former member of the Party Central Committee, First Deputy Foreign Ministry, serving in the diplomatic service for 44 years until he retired in 1997.

He was an officer in the Vietnam People's Army, has taught at the College of Foreign Affairs.

From 1954 he worked for the Foreign Ministry. He was diplomatic staff throughout 44 years (54-97).

In 1964, he served as First Secretary at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Indonesia. In 1966, he returned to Hanoi, Vietnam is a member of the delegation in the Democratic Republic of the Paris Conference (68-73) in Vietnam.

In 1976, he was responsible for negotiating the North American relationship and then moved to Europe before going as ambassador to Thailand in 1982 until 1986. The journalist Kavi Chongkittavorn comment Thailand, he is a gentleman, understanding, and profound. He was taken to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1986.

During the 12 years from 1979, Tran Quang Co participated in the negotiations to resolve the war in Cambodia. After the Vietnam War, he participated in negotiations to normalize relations with the three countries of the United States, the Soviet Union and China.

February 1991, he withdrew from the list of nominees to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam VII but not approved. In July the same year he met the General Secretary Do Muoi please not received official Foreign Minister Nguyen Co Thach his replacement.

In late 1993, at the mid-term conference, he himself asked to withdraw from the Party Central Committee.

In 2001, he released his memoirs 'Memoirs and thoughts' about events postwar diplomacy.

He died June 25, 2015 in Hanoi.
