UBT NEWS:

UBT is now Ad-Free! That's right, this app is now available for everyone to use without watching even ONE advertisement unless they specifically want to. If someone wants to watch an ad to help the UBT team out they will have that opportunity but it's entirely up to them. In version 1.0 ads were played automatically when switching to the main menu in order to provide the team with a means of protection in case it went super viral, but now that we have a much more realistic idea how many people are going to download and use it we're changing things up to reflect the numbers. We hope that this change is going to allow us to get back to the "meat and potatoes" of our project which is the content.

Speaking of content... we're working on new stuff. UBT was created by a team of people that have families and day jobs so clearly everyone needs to take care of business in terms of putting food on the table and making ends meet but we're all excited about getting some new tracks in there. We're all extremely pleased with the app so far in terms of downloads, performance, and user feedback, and we are putting as much time as we can into getting these new tracks done so we can release them to the public.

As always thanks to everyone who has taken the time to check out UBT, wish us luck with our work on the upcoming content update, and Happy New Year!

DESCRIPTION:

Backing tracks are an easy and fun way for people to practice music or play for their own enjoyment while experiencing the drama and excitement of playing along with other musicians even when other musicians aren't around. Previously these kinds of musical productions were aimed at a specific instrument or style of music, but with modern mobile devices it is now possible to make these tracks inclusive for a variety of instruments in a fast and easy to use interface.
UBT aims to do just that. Whether you play guitar, bass, keys, drums, or even another instrument there should be at least one track in here that you find engaging. Whether you want to jam some hard rock, Latin jazz, surf guitar, or something else, UBT offers a variety of styles, tempos, and keys that anyone with a fundamental knowledge of their instrument can learn. There are looping tracks that will keep going and going, but also dynamic tracks with exciting changes that will keep a musician on their toes.
Plus, in addition to several original tracks that can't be found anywhere else UBT has useful tools like fast and easy tune-by-ear tuners for guitar and bass, a simple metronome, and an easy to read chord chart with most commonly used guitar chords. While there may not be a pretend plastic guitar to plug in or an internal mechanism that tells the user how accurate their performance was UBT was built on a the very solid and heavily tested Unity engine and offers an intuitive interface that most experienced musicians should feel right at home on.
Also UBT's tracks do not stream from an external website like YouTube so this cuts down on data usage. The ads do use some data but not a lot, so if you want to avoid going over your data limit using UBT when you are away from Wi-Fi might help with that.
Right now the plan is to update UBT with more looping tracks, dynamic tracks, more guitar chords, a piano chord chart, and perhaps some features that would allow the user to adjust track parameters like tempo and key. So, if you like UBT use it and comment because the more it gets used the more attention it will get!
We have gone from free to... free-er. That's right now there's no ads at all. That's the good news. The down side is that it looks like content is going to have to wait while the UBT team gets it's ducks in a row. In the meantime feel free to use the app and enjoy it, I'm sure at some point there will be new material available for us to put in there but so much to do and so little time.
