Dewa 19 is a musical group formed in 1986 in Surabaya, Indonesia. This group has encountered several personnel changes before the final formation and disbanded in 2011 is Ahmad Dhani (keyboards), Andra Junaidi (guitar), Once Mekel (vocals), Yuke Sampurna (bass) and the Supreme Yudha (drums). Having dominated the festival stages in the late 1980s, Dewa 19, then moved to Jakarta and released his first album in 1992 under the label Team Records. [1]

The group has earned a profit throughout the 1990s and 2000s through a series of songs genre of rock and pop. The album that they release almost always well received in the market, even those albums were released in 2000, Five Star, is one of Indonesia's best-selling album with sales of nearly 2 million copies. [2] [3] [4] In 2005, Dewa 19 O magazine crowned as the richest band in Indonesia with revenues reaching more than 14 billion a year. [5] In the midst of his success, this group had several times stumble legal problems, including the problem of copyright infringement and a feud with Islamic organizations. [6] [7]

Throughout his career, Dewa 19 has received many awards, both BASF and AMI Awards Awards. [8] They have also been awarded LibForAll Award in the United States for their contribution to the quest for peace and religious tolerance.
