First steps

The history of the Reborn in Christ Church began around the year 1985. At the time, the Apostle Estevam Hernandes and his family, suffering the effects of religiosity, were asked to leave the church of which they were part. Many people expressed a desire to follow them, but the Apostle always made it clear that was not going to divide the church. As they were ministering and watching a couple, they continued to work and other couples joined the group. The meetings were held in the house in Onyx Street, 46, who soon ended up getting small for so many people. It was at that time, they decided to rent a place for meetings. This place was a hall on the top floor of the old pizzeria Livorno, located at Vergueiro Street in the neighborhood of Vila Mariana, in São Paulo.


The responsibility for the work and the fear of the Lord made the Apostle think to end the meeting and directing people to an established church. However, there was no way to resist, it was really God's will that a new ministry began there. A ministry that would revolutionize the Gospel, and brought a new vision of what it is to have Jesus in your heart: REBIRTH IN CHRIST!


Already as an indication of what would be one of the brands in our ministry - prosperity - the pizzeria began to prosper and the owner asked for the room that was being used for meetings. The Church then had its start officially documented on 12 March 1986.


The Church Arabic

It was necessary to get another place to house the early church. Having already sought practically throughout the neighborhood, passing in front of the Arab Evangelical Church - in the neighborhood of Paradise in São Paulo - the Holy Spirit spoke to the Apostle that was the place. They talked then with the pastor of the church and it was agreed that the meetings would be held there. To receive and contain the growth of the church, the site underwent a renovation and had its physical space expanded by indenting the wall of the altar.



The church grew steadily. Monday meetings held in the garage of the building, attracted young and younger who indulged in Jesus and were freed from drugs. The beginning of the band Katsbarnea happened at this point in church history and was a milestone that revolutionized gospel music in Brazil. Artists who performed at night, now fully released, played to Jesus and attracted crowds of young people. It was a powerful moment in the history of our ministry.


The Lins

The desire of the Apostle was that the church had its own building. It was then that the Lord used a pastor to bring a prophetic word that God would give the newborn church a wonderful building in a great area and a detail: would have a bus stop at the door. The search for the building began, until one day, the Bishop Sonia, passing in front of the building of Lins, gave a cry, saying: "Look at the building that is to sell." The site had housed a cinema and a car agency. On the first visit to the place, God's presence was very strong and he confirmed the promise that this place would be the church.


When the news was given to the people, what happened when Moses lived the spies went to see the land. Caleb and Joshua believed, but the other ten spies bad report saying the land is impossible to conquer it. Some were incredulous as to the purchase of that building, since the value, human eyes, was astronomical. It began then a campaign for the purchase of the building of Lins. The challenge was launched and the people involved donating jewelry, cash, valuables, among many other offerings. Soon after, the building was donated to the church, continuing the move of the Lord, who led the Church to conquer other buildings and expand its action throughout Brazil and the world. Today, more than 400 churches in Brazil and abroad, which take the Word of God and the apostolic move all peoples and nations!
