Duero needs to connect to a server that receives news from news agencies to which your company or organization is subscribed and which has access to Proyectos Electronicos Varona SA's web services, specially designed to work with this application.

Once installed, the first thing the user must do is fill in the configuration form with server address, username and password information.

This does mean that there will not be any news shown at the time of installation, as, by default, a demo account on our server, www.dueronet.es, is provided. A small number of news stories, courtesy of the Spanish agency Europa Press, will appear.

A new feature in this most recent version (client, server and web application) is the news alert system. The notifications have 30 word/phrase limit and their content can be modified by the user. Because they are stored locally, users can view them without having to access the server. This new feature runs in the background, in user defined intervals in which Duero connects to the server and captures newly arrived news and checks for the user's keywords or key phrases.

It also allows for reading the news out loud, for times when the user cannot red them himself, as well as sending the news to a printer, email or via WhatsApp.
