Step By Step Guide To Install Hazard Alert using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. Hazard Alert is an app provided by the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT), in partnership with HERE Technologies. The app provides hazard alerts to drivers to improve safety and to demonstrate the flow of information about events and hazards in the state of Iowa that will be needed to inform connected and automated driving. Use this app on the Iowa DOT AV Corridor. The corridor runs along I-380 between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids and along I-80 in the vicinity of Iowa City. This app provides turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation, and real-time traffic and road alerts directly from Iowa Department of Transportation and traffic management experts at HERE.

There are a limited number of drivers who have been selected to test this application. By participating in this pilot, application users will provide valuable insight to help improve safety in the state of Iowa.
