Country Club began in 2008 as an experimental contemporary art program with multiple locations (and in most ways, no location at all), including the landmark Buck House (1934) designed by RM Schindler in Los Angeles. Country Club produced installations, performances, and interventions in locations around the world including Brazil, various locations across Europe, and at major art fairs such as ArtBasel Miami. The program ranged from installations and performances in unexpected environments such as strip clubs, to public murals, to happenings and installations at the Schindler Buck House. Their roster of collaborators included Freeman & Lowe, EV Day, Paintallica, Delia Brown, Ryan McGinness, Shepard Fairey, TV On The Radio, Dead Meadow, Louis Vuitton, #Rodarte, the Mondrian, Nowness, LACMA, Dave Navarro, Harmony Korine, MOCA LA, W Magazine, Barry McGee, Levis, SIMPARCH, Prurient, and The Standard hotels, among many others. Today, the project lives on in the form of a curated, purely mobile experience which you currently hold in your hands. Stay tuned. More to come.
