The forefathers to create ecological awareness in Tamilnadu by publishing the most important books in the history of Tamilnadu ecology in the late 1980s is the high-level integrity of the Poovulagin Nanbargal ('Friends of the Earth'). The group of young people who joined Chezhiyan's guidance made a historical contribution to the environment scenario of Tamilnadu.

Their activities were made in the 90s through their publications that their definition of the environment was a transition from the work of simple tree planting, and they said there was a political context behind every ecological disorder.

The crew created the world's most important environmental books in Tamil. The dangers of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Center were written by the signing of the letter to the Government. Poovulagin Nanbargal, who were behind is the creation of many Tamil words that are used today as biodiversity, genetic change, and biotechnology. He also voted against patent and intellectual property rights. He died in 2006.
