Gurudass ji name often includes the honorific Bhagat, sometimes spelled as Ravidass, Raidas, Rohidas and Ruhidas.


Guru Ravidas is revered as a saint and well respected by his believers. He is considered by his devotees as someone who was the living symbol of religious protest, and not as the spiritual symbol of any ultimate unifying cultural principle.




He was a poet saint, social reformer and a spiritual figure. The life details of guru Ravidas are uncertain and contested. Most scholars believe he was born about CE, in a family that worked with dead animals and their skin to produce leather products, making them an untouchable Chamar caste. Tradition and medieval era texts state Ravidas was one of the disciples of the Brahmin bhakti sant poet sant Ramananda.

It contains 140 shabads, 40 pade, bani haftawar, bani pandran tithi, anmol vachan milni de samen, baran maas updesh, dohra, saand bani, painti akhri, laawaan,suhag ustat, manglachar, 231 salok. There are 177 pages in the entire book Guru Ravidas.




Amritbani Sat Guru Ravidass Ji was compiled and edited by Ramanand Dass of Dera Sach Khand. The holy book's completion was announced by the Sant Samaj and by Dera Sach Khand[ at Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan. Amritbani Guru Ravidass Ji is the holy book of the Ravidassia religion people.
