description Catholic New American Bible application
The Bible. , Better known as American Standard Bible, pastoral edition, Latin America is a Catholic translation of the Bible into Spanish in Chile carried out by a team led by Bernardo Hurault priests and Ramon Ricciardi

Bernardo Hurault began to write it in Chile in 1960. The translation was made from ancient Hebrew and Koine Greek. During their preparation, he included in version Hurault their own homilies and issues raised in the congregation where he worked. Was published in 1972. Subsequently there have been new issues which have corrected the Biblical text, footnotes and introductions page.

The version uses large letters for all text of the New Testament and one-third of the Old Testament. The rest of the Old Testament text is printed in smaller letters. The Old Testament quotations that appear in the New Testament are indicated by italic letters.

American Standard Bible in the Book of Sirach has the name of Sirach. The Pauline epistles and the epistles of the other apostles are called letters.

The order of the books of the New Testament is the same Catholic biblical canon. As for the order of the books of the Old Testament, the New American Bible adopted the Hebrew Bible: Torah, nevi'im (Prophets) and Ketuvim (Writings). Exceptions to the order of the Hebrew Bible are:

Location of the books of Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Chronicles and Macabeos within nevi'im, according to the order of the Greek Bible.
Placing the deuterocanonical books of Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Wisdom and Sirach within the Ketuvim, then the oldest wisdom writings.
The book of Psalms occupies the last place in the Old Testament.

The New American Bible is a revision of the Latin Bible made in 2004. It was published by the Spanish editorales San Pablo and Verbo Divino. The imprimatur was given on May 3, 2004 by the Honduran Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga and Bishop Roberto Camilleri Azzopardi of Comayagua. It has a large print edition, another in pocket format and an edition called "trainers" for Catholic leaders.

The New American Bible has received since its first publication positive and negative comments. The negative reviews are based on the text, notes and introductions of the first editions of the version were influenced by liberation theology.

On October 30, 1976 came a Declaration on the "New American Bible" made by the Argentina Episcopal Conference (CEA). The CEA found the text and translation of the New American Bible "is substantially true, despite some objections hacérsele could. "Instead the CEA saw that several of the notes and introductions were" ambiguous, were not exempt from dangers and, some, especially concerning the Church, for its misleading character, are certainly unacceptable. "

In 1977, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith concluded that the Latin Bible was faithful translation of the original texts, but his notes and introductions had inaccuracies and ambiguities to be eliminated or clarified by the Hierarchy of the Church in Argentina. 4 Some photos should be eliminated for being considered tendenciosas.4
